GEOAmey has been awarded three contracts by the Ministry of Justice in the United Kingdom to provide prison escort and custody services across England and Wales with the exception of London and Eastern England.
GEOAmey is responsible for managing approximately 2,600 daily prisoner movements using a fleet of almost 500 purpose designed custody vehicles and covering some 17.5 million miles annually.
Our services under this contract include:
- Escorting prisoners efficiently between police custody, courts and prisons within contractually specified times, ensuring their security, safety, comfort and wellbeing.
- Care and supervision of prisoners in custody in court cell suites
- Custody of prisoners in court docks
Provision of these services requires liaison with police custody suite officers, prison officers, and court staff to avoid delays and ensure an efficient service for all users.
GEOAmey has worked in partnership with the Ministry of Justice to develop innovative logistical solutions supported by advanced technology to drive more efficient, safe, and secure prisoner movements, whilst ensuring the wellbeing of the people in our care.
Detailed analysis of patterns in the requirements for prisoner movements between police custody, courts, and prisons along with an in-depth understanding of the associated challenges was the basis for the design of our service solution.
Efficiency gains will also be achieved for the Ministry of Justice through integration for the first time of inter-prison transfers within the Prisoner Escort and Custody Services contract.
Our depot locations and configuration are planned around the analysis of prisoner movement requirements in order to achieve optimum efficiency.
